Move your app · Bolt

Deploy your Bolt app to your own domain and accounts

Bolt builds Vite apps, usually on Supabase. They deploy anywhere that serves files, once three things are right: their keys, their pages, and the files that came with the export.

What carries over

Your Supabase project, by setting its address and key, or a new one Launchpad creates.

What to watch for

A .env exported into the repository puts your keys where anyone with access can read them, and an import written with the wrong capital letters works on a Mac and fails on the build server.

Launchpad recognises a Bolt app by The .bolt folder, and adjusts what it sets up before anything is created.

The steps

  1. Push the app to GitHub from Bolt, or download it as a zip.
  2. Run the free launch check on the repository or the zip.
  3. Paste the fix request into Bolt's chat, and let it make the changes.
  4. Import the repository in Launchpad and deploy it on your domain.

Questions

My app works in Bolt. Why would it break elsewhere?

Bolt's environment sets your keys and serves every page for you. A new host does neither until it's told, and builds on Linux, where file names' capital letters matter. The launch check lists each of these before you deploy.

Can I check it without GitHub?

Yes. Download the project as a zip from Bolt and upload it on the launch check page (up to 4 MB, without node_modules).

Is Launchpad part of Bolt?

No. Launchpad is an independent product by Axonscape. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Bolt; it recognises apps made with it so moving them is easier.
